Featured Real or No Real? EAPG Tree of Life Compote

This compote goes off tonight at an on line auction. The seller didn't provide enough photos and of course, no measurements. He calls it Bohemian glass because the powder jar next to it has a sticker on it. Here's my problem. First, I looked at the pattern on the eapg web site but did not see any examples where both the stem and the base were frosted. Then, I found that LG Wright and Fenton reproduced this pattern, but not this shape. Finally, I can't tell (bad photos, no measurements) whether this is a base for the epergne. If real, it will go nicely in my collection. So what's your gut feeling, real or reproduction? I'm hoping to get a good price because nobody is buying clear glass now.

 

agree that the photos are not that great. I can tell you that I do have cake stands in both clear and frosted; and the frosted stem is etched on both the hand stem and the foot/base.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this compote. It was only $5 so I think it's worth it. The auctioneer offered to bring small items to their local warehouse which is closer to me. Now I don't have to pick it up across town during rush hour.

 

I think it is lovely.

 

$5-why of course. I'm not an EAPG aficionado -but I would've grabbed this.I love the 'Victorian Hand' motif. In my tilted brain, this hand denotes 'memento mori', and Victo-Weird imho is always good !
