Featured Antique Owl Pin

Just sharing...I love this pin. Bought it assuming it was gold filled. The pin is testing 10k, but the pin stem is not. I have had high quality gold filled pieces that test as 10K, so I'm a little skeptical, but there is none of the tell tale edge ware often seen on gold filled pins like this.

Don't some makers use a more durable non-gold material for the pin stem than for the ornamental part of jewelry?

 

Beautiful! I don't see any wear to the gold, which is a good sign.
The brooch in the link is the same style and has the same clasp. It is 18k gold and could be by the same maker.

Had this electronically tested by the guy I sell scrap to and he said 14K.

 

I expected real gold, and 14k is wonderful, congratulations. You have a great eye for beautiful jewellery.

This is one of my favorite things I've found lately. I saw it in the estate sale pictures, and went specifically for it. I had a hard time finding it in the pile of jewelry at the sale, but luckily I got to it before anyone else.
