Any Army Baseball Fans WW I to be Correct

I picked up this very neat old photo today at the flea market. I splurged because it's a baseball team with 14th Cav and some sort of officer. She got her asking price of $2. It's not in the greatest shape. But, it's cool enough.

I asked AI to clear it up a bit, and it did great.

AI says this is the 14th Cavalry around the time of WW I and that they were probably stationed near the southern border. Anyone have any human info? Recognize any of these people?

Last week I bought this woman and 1907 calendar.

Not impressed. Changes the entire context of the photo. Among other things... Ages the sitter by decades. Changes the white collar which has social significance to black.

Baseball was "The" game. Every guy played at least for fun, and military bases had their own teams. They used to play each other, mostly. Sometimes other local teams. The bats in the cleaned up AI image look like the one my dad used well into the 1970s for softball. BTW - the officer is wearing a straight-up WWI cavalry uniform, boots and all. Wool. My guess is he was the coach, the CO, or both.

I have looked at the photo under a magnifying glass, because she's a little weird looking (in the photo. I didn't know her) That does look to be a graduation cap, but she looks old. That's part of what's confusing. She looks to be 40 or 50. Maybe she's a teacher. Whoever she was, someone had a calendar made of that photo.

I didn't notice it did change the collar to be a piece of the thing around that white collar.

She's not old. It's just an unflattering photo. The tassel on her mortar board has been changed. In the photograph, it's not bunched up but hanging to the left which symbolizes she hasn't yet graduated. And she's not wearing glasses; she's wearing pince-nez. The white collar was a statement symbolizing independence and professionalism. Remove it and her character disappears.
