Not my subject but... Looks original to my eye. Could it have just been part of a quick and cheap manufacturing process? This wasn't an expensive item in its time.

Now I’ve seen the close up, not spills. As others have said, cheaply made so it’s a “flaw”.

I also have no idea what that hole is for. This model figure is very small so it wouldn't be practical for spills
