Featured What age is the frame on this Alphonse Mucha print? 8.5x5.6"

Hi all! Picked this little print up at Auction. It is actually really nicely framed, I am wondering what age you think the frame might be? I'm trying to figure out if the print is older or a repro from e.g. the 1970s. The frame is a dark textured metal, the back has nice copper details. Measurements in the title. Thanks as always

 

I love that kind of art.

I have a repro of the advertising print that was on the wall on Friends tv show framed. It was the one in Monica's apt.

The famous poster in Monica's apartment on Friends is a vintage 1885 French advertisement called "Aux Buttes Chaumont - Jouets" by artist Jules Chéret

 

It's not a print. It's a souvenir promoting Austria's presence at the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris.

Gotcha. Do you think it's of the period based on the frame?

 

Hard to tell without handling it. Can it be removed from the frame?

No, it's pretty much sealed into the frame. It does feel quite heavy and quality.

 

Way Cool...certainly contemporary to the event, I'll bet!

Its a bit weird because the size is unusual.
If in centimeters is 21.25 x 14.
An original posted at the Mucha Trust is much larger and so are the reprints.
On a smaller size is something else.
Faded colors, an enclosed period frame, to me at least this is a big plus.

You could contact the foundation directly to ask if they have more info. They also have the archive.
It looks like a leaflet, not a poster.
And that would make it something that was handed out to the visitors of the pavilion and a nice direct link to the Paris 1900 Expo.

That empty rectangle at the bottom right looks to me like a place where a business or perhaps exhibitor could put their own info. Hand them out to customers or potential customers...

There are quite a number of these to be found on the internet (although I haven't confirmed that sizes are identical.) A Google Images search will bring them up. Yours appears to have been cropped when it was framed. Typically, that affects value.
