Featured Help ID Japanese Woodblock Print

Help me learn more about my framed Japanese woodblock print, please. Frame measures 13-1/2" by 8-1/4". No visible signature or chop marks. Frame, etc. makes me think 1920's. The Brentano's New York label is promising. I understand they sold good quality Japanese prints there. Love to know the artist and title. Anything else too. Sorry about the tragic photos. Couldn't get them right. Hopefully you can see through the reflections, etc.

I tried putting it through ukiyo-e.org, but no others were found.

This site catalogs artist's signatures, but there does not appear to be a way to search by image. There are over 60 pages of examples.

To my eye, 1920s is right for the frame and matting.

Little ringed plover sounds so sweet.

 

Other than being in desperate need of a new mat (I can already see an acid/mat burn mark on the poor thing) I'd cheerfully hang that on my wall too. Old mattes were high-acid paper and eventually eat the artwork.

 

Without knowing anything about this artists sales record I think this print would be extremely desirable in the marketplace. Superb scene/subject matter and what seems to be the most desirable era stylistically speaking. What a great print! I’d love to own this one.

 

Thank you all! Your research takes my breath away. I thought I looked, and hard, for the answers. Just don't know how I guess. Certainly do appreciate it. I know you agree that these beautiful things deserve our attention.
