Does this look of the period?

Here's what came up with a google lens search: The image appears to show an underglaze blue and iron-red 'dragon' porcelain dish featuring a Jingjintang four-character hall mark on the base, dating from the 19th century (Qing dynasty).

    I really like it.

    Ahh...Lovely bowl!
Dunno about period, but that is one fine dragon...Thanks!

There are issues with the mark itself. In the lower right character almost all the versions that are authentic below the scorpion thing there is a rectangle with a dash inside the rectangle. This one does not have that it is a series of parallel lines.

Also the character in the lower left is a little odd, the candleabra like thing does have 5 prongs which is good sign but to the right it has an upside down "g" whereas most are different. Still there are specimens that do show the upside down g like this butterfly vase sold at CHristies (about 4/5 of the way down the page there is a closeup of the mark):

That one still has the normal rectangle dash in the lower right char.

Its a beautiful plate and I love it. Shouldn't the foot rim have slight discolouration in it from iron oxide and such like in the clay if it was from said period? Looks a bit clean.
This is what im used to seeing

The link to antique marks .com provides enough information to scare me. I would be the type of person that unknowingly uses a treasure for an ashtray.

You might already be doing so. Heaven knows what I've donated back to charity shops or sold at a car boot for 50p.

Never sell anything if you are uncertain what the market value is.

I see a bit of yellowing, similar to Sunday's:

Skin oil from holding the bowl up? I can't tell the size.* Would an individual have eaten out of it?

*Duh. It's in the title, 6". Could be functional at that size, or not.

Not sure. Quite possibly just for decoration.

I just pasted the AI info which we know needs verification. It did say it was 19th c which I can believe, but with al things Chinese, I know next to nothing. I still like the plate -- such an "unbusy" design and limited palette really appeal to me.

Yes there are so many reproductions of reproductions with Chinese ceramics, its difficult to put a date on anything and tell what is genuine.

I think its def old because of the pitting on the bottom. So at least 18th century. Probably apocryphal because that second character is a but off but I dunno

Whose bowl is it anyway? Do you own it or is it listed on the interweb?
