Chinese carved glass dog

Hi Everyone,
I have a small carved glass or rock crystal foo dog that has another material attached on the top, possibly carved from a single piece of glass/crystal that had an inclusion? The red top material has white underneath, almost like a polished shell. Does this look familiar? Any ideas? The little figure measures just 2" long. There are a few chips on its feet. It came with a lot of antique Chinese items. I'm thinking it is old, possibly late 19th century.

 

Charming Fu lion. It is carved Peking glass, imo. The red colour probably means it was made as a New Years gift.
