Google says Emperor Franz Joseph I (1848-1916) and he is wearing the Austrian Order of the Golden Fleece around his neck. He is easily identified by his bald head and whiskers. That's a neat piece!

I'm assuming it is a highly unusual type. I am not finding any Meerschaum with a photographic image on it.

That's an interesting cigar holder -- the photograph reminds me of those used in stanhopes.

I had exactly this thought, but no joy in a search for cigar holders that incorporate a stanhope.

Me three. Not that I’ve seen it all but I definitely haven’t ever seen one of these. Very cool find! I love all the little items associated with the ritual of smoking. The act itself is for the birds but tobacciana incorporates some of the coolest items ever made

I have seen vintage cigarette cases that made me wish I were a smoker.

True. The same goes for betel paraphernalia, of which I collect the Indonesian items. But I have never chewed betel in my life.:yuck:;)

Back in the 60s my Mom had a black plastic cigarette holder with a "gold" and rhinestone decoration. I thought it was the coolest thing! She didn't use it much and she quit smoking later.

I guess we like the fetishize items related to intoxicants as collectors a little bit. The objects are amazing on their own merit but the bit of naughtiness adds to it a little maybe. Kind of like with any taboo. An interesting new leaf on this tree that I’ve seen is the collector market for pharmaceutical industry swag advertising narcotics. Pharma swag in general has a strong collector base but the narcotic branded stuff goes for big bucks relatively speaking. If you’re out and about and see any pharma stuff pick it up! If the product could get you flying high then feeling low pick it up extra quick.
