I just thought this was so interesting. I know some of you enjoy old photos like this too. Early 20th c I'm guessing.

    No info on back.

I think you are correct on the time period. I know big bows like the one on the little girl were still in fashion when my mother was 4 - 5 years old in 1930/31. By the time my mother was made to wear one (she told me she hated them) the look was also bobbed hair, not the ringlets of this child. Looks a lot like a family photo of my maternal grandmother's family, probably taken in the 19 teens. Any idea of where this one was taken?

Nope--- the back is blank, and no photo studio insignia as you sometimes see on the front or on the cardboard mount.

Looks to me like those were having some seriously frequent children!

My grandmother was the 7th of 7 girls; the 8th child was the only boy. Farm families before all the mechanization needed to be big. My dad grew up on a farm & was 1 of 7; my mother grew up in a town & was the elder of 2. This bunch looks more affluent than my forebears.

    A really nice photo. I'm guessing 1900- 1910...ish.
    I love seeing the jewelry.
The photographer knew what he was doing. Great composition. Look at the placement of the ladies' hands.

My 2 key take aways from this photo is the strong family resemblance on every single face. The ones on the left strongly resemble the older woman and the ones on the right resemble the older man. And the little girl with the bow that is so heavy her head tilts sideways, lol. I can see why your mother hated the bow. It needed to go out of style. On a more contemporary note, I have always hated those headbands mothers put on baby's heads, hasn't gone out of style yet.

The older of these boys gets my attention for some reason:

pottery, that's priceless. We should put cartoon statements coming out of their mouths. The little girl, whom I've named Scout, is telegraphing the photographer "hurry up so I can get out of this ridiculous outfit and this bow!" The younger boy "you've got 3 minutes and then I'm outa here!" The older boy "aren't I handsome regardless of this dumb haircut. And yes, I know I look like Dad."

I love it! The younger boy looks really serious! I wonder what kind of adult he became...

Obviously photographers did not have everyone say "cheese" in those days, but I think what makes the older of the young boys (the 2 of them in matching shirts with detachable collars) is that he looks closer to smiling than any of the others & actually appears to be enjoying the process.

The little girl with the outsize bow (wonder if it got competitive over who had the biggest bow) is wearing a necklace with what look like molars at the center:

What do with think about the young man in the back row? Son or husband?

Same here. They always remind me of the episode from the original Star Trek series (The Corbomite Maneuver) where they encounter an alien ship with a grim-visaged captain who threatens them with destruction but turns out to be a jovial little fellow who hasn't lost his baby teeth yet.

Tranya is a fictional beverage from Star Trek.An orange or pink-colored alien drink native to the First Federation, famously served by Commander Balok to Captain Kirk in The Original Series episode "The Corbomite Maneuver".
Not sure how Tranya affected young Clint 60 years ago ?
