    Hi all,
This is actually my third Owl clock with rotating eyes. The first two sold quick and were profitable. He/she is 8" tall and works but is missing the counterweight.
I can't seem to find any information on Sprague Mfg. There is mention of a William F Sprague and I was wondering if it was the same person.
This one looks older than my other ones. the eyes are actually wood. the hands are plastic though.
    Any input appreciated.

    Mikey

    He's cool
    He looks kind of 1930s/40s.
I'm finding clocks from Wm F Sprague MFG listed as both German and Swiss.

Thanks. I was thinking pre war so we are most likely in the right time frame

Looks like it's between 1892 and 1945, closer to the latter as Cluttered noted.

The mention of 'No Jewels' indicates late 1930s as earliest date. The alternative would be after German reunification.

could be -partially - artifical wood like Delignit and other brands that were invented rather early around 1915. mixture of PF resin and sawdust pressed under high temp and pressure, then painted.

It looks like all wood to me. I was thinking I would buy a pinecone weight for it to be complete but there are so many different weights I can't be sure. I attached a weight just to test it.A small multi tool knife about 6 oz.. works great but too fast. Maybe a clock shop might be able to set me up with one?

Lower the pendulum bob a little. The weight has no effect on how fast the clock runs, only the pendulum length.
Any weight that works will do, the lighter the better.

Silly me. Now I need a pendulum. So less complete as originally thought.

    Problems solved.
Ordered a Brass pendulum marked Germany and
Pinecone weight and still into this for less than 20.
