I found a Millersburg Carnival glass Hanging Cherries bowl that has the impression of a ca. 1900 Indian Head Penny in the center. Before I purchased the bowl, I found on somebody's web site a photo of a couple who had the same bowl (ruffled, green) in their collection with the penny still in the bowl.

I can't find that photo again and don't remember what web site had it. I'm trying to figure out 2 things. One, would the bowl be better with the penny? two, is the penny impression unique? Or did someone at Millersburg drop the penny in the mold and run off many bowls just like this one? Conversely, does the penny impression de-value it?

This is bugging the heck out of me because I could swear I saw this several years ago and now all evidence of the darn penny evaporated. Or my search skills have. Here are some photos. the bowl is 10 1/2" in diameter. TYIA!

Check out David Doty's page. www.ddoty.com

He has lots of Carnival Glass info. I used to collect it, but sold it all because my kids didn't want it. :(

I checked Doty first. Also checked Carnival Heaven and Hooked on Carnival. I just can't find that photo. It seems as if I tripped over it the first time.

That link was very interesting and I appreciate your finding it. The photo I saw last week was of an older couple who were holding a green hanging cherries bowl with a penny in the bottom. I could see the copper color. I'll likely find it when I'm no longer looking for it.

In any case the bowl just sold on ebay so I guess it's water under the bridge. I think maybe I underpriced it. But that's OK, it was a deal on this end too.

Thanks for your help Unc Chuck!
