Featured Let's play a game!!!

Hi again everyone,

For this edition of "let's play a game" you have the chance to test your silver searching skills. I should mention that I actually haven't received this item yet, so I could be completely wrong on my guess. I'm always willing to put a bit of money on the line if I think I'm guessing right. So, here's the rules of the game:

1. You get the same info as I had
2. I didn't ask for any additional information than what was provided
3. See if you can find the potential maker based on the information below
4. If you think you've found something, simply put something like "I think I know more info about this item" and give some other folks a chance to try before we discuss it.

If you aren't sure on where to get started to try to solve this one, I definitely recommend trying to search google images, that's a good tool for you. Here's the details:

That's ominous!!! I'd love to hear your thoughts, I'm guessing you think it might be plated (and of course you definitely might be right) or were you just saying you weren't interested in the game?

 

Nope, knew right away, had one years ago - and the style is typical of the era and country of manufacture, so only took a few seconds to find the maker, since I couldn't remember the name on mine (but similar pieces were made in various metals)...

Should also mention that it may be by a different maker than you think.

I definitely agree with the maker possibly being different, and I appreciate the info on the potentially different metal...I buy my share of duds, but figured I'd give it a shot for the low price. This may sound strange, but I'm okay with the duds, because everytime I'm wrong I learn. Who knows on this one until it shows up

I would have passed this by, never thinking of sterling for an ashtray. I googled and now know to look more closely at ashtrays, thanks Mr Nate

Look what arrived in the mail today! It wasn't the maker I was anticipating, but I'm obviously quite happy considering the price I paid:

 

For that price, I'd be happy too! It's not old older oldest, but who cares?

 

So clean and MCM, I love the design!

 

Me too Marie, i love the minimalist, smooth look to the piece. I was surprised with how heavy/chunky it feels given it's size.
