    Obviously, it's a pot lid, or vase lid.

    No idea what era though.

    @Maddiem - Welcome to the forum!! :happy::happy:

    Measurements might help, but I will go out on a limb to say it is likely Italian & a round trinket jar lid.

    Maybe you can make out more of the letters in the word on the wall? I can't tell what's in the shadow. What do you see? Not sure who they all are. Guy on the left looks like Apollo, except for the staff. Don't have any idea about the kneeling one. The word may be a clue. In this context, wondering if the woman is the poet Sappho.

    Very nice, Maddiem. I agree, a trinket box lid, but it looks perfect on that stand.
    It should say: "Et in Arcadia Ego". It is after a famous Poussin painting of that name, also known as 'The Arcadian Shepherds'.:)
    The painter has made a few changes however, this is the original:

    The few transfer ware items I see with this scene are Carlsbad or Vienna, FWIW, as they are not exclusive.

    Hi Maddiem!

    Welcome to Antiquers............:cat:

    There are those who collect pot lids (or did). Google for information.

    They were quite sought after several years ago when the antique business was booming.

    I can't give any more information, but you can google antique pot lids. Collectors asked for Pratt lids.
