    Good evening everyone,

Quick post tonight, just wanted to share a nice score that arrived today. To start, here's the photo in the original listing:

The two bowls in the background had nice tone, so I asked for photos of the bottom of all three. Well one had something nice, so I took the plunge. At about $110 for the group to be shipped to me, here's my reward. Two photos unpolished:

    And here's the finished piece:

I still have them, but they were both plated.

One would think that asking for a pic of the bottom would tip them off ! Why in the world was it so much to ship ???

I should clarify, I paid $110 total. They listed the three bowls as "Sterling silver antique pottery". Now you can giggle at how they listed it, but that's a great sign in a listing, it means they don't really speak the language. Granted people list plated stuff as "sterling" all the time, but sometimes people just write what they see on the bottom of the "pottery". And yes, asking for a photo of the bottom should absolutely tip them off. But remember, I asked for photos of the bottom of all three, and I asked for all three to be shipped. I'm calling this move the "online silver shell game".... ;)

Amazing as always Mr, Nate. Do you also polish up the silver plated ones?
and if i may ask what do you do with the silver plated ones? Sell them off ?

I usually don't do anything with the plated ones...They collect in a pile for awhile and then they are usually tossed out. Unless it's a collectible brand or style, the time and energy to list them for sale isn't worth it for me.

There are so so many plated bowls/trays/ whatevers in the thrifts around here....they just sit and collect dust.

I use to take piles of silver plate items to the recycle place back when brass & copper were bringing good money. Of course the ones that would end up in the box were the ones that were damaged in some way or recent ones that were made by the thousands.

If you don't want to bother with it donate it or sell it at whatever local auction house you use. My guy piles it on a table then lets the recycle guys & the resale guys fight it out, but please don't throw it out to end up in a landfill some place.
