Yes, I know, not many are aware that June 14th is Flag Day here, It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. Although I am vaguely aware of flag day, I had NEVER heard of a Flag Table, until today! So in honor of flag day which was yesterday........... Signed “Made & Designed by F. Wedin, Roxbury” (for Frederick F Wedin (1812-1898) inside drawer Roxbury, Massachusetts Walnut, maple, cherry; painted rosewood graining and flag decoration. Circa 1860’s H: 31”; W: 35”; D: 25” The second of the two tables known by Frederick Wedin, the top of this example is a 35 star flag, symbolizing West Virginia’s statehood in 1863. The side supports resemble anchors, the legs are formed like cannons, the cross braces are shaped like rifles and the feet like cannonballs. Two carved dueling pistols and a pyramid of ammunition are carved on the face of the drawer. Wedin was born in 1812 in Denmark and immigrated to Boston in 1836. On his entry papers he was listed as a piano forte maker. He became an American citizen in 1854 and appears to have become an ardent patriot, celebrating the American flag on this and at least one other similar table that sold at Sotheby’s. http://www.kellykinzleantiques.com/carved-inlaid-and-painted-flag-table.html
And just like that I need one. What a gorgeous piece of craftsmanship! Beautiful, such a shame there seems to be only two.
So it's this one with some restoration? https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/74365383_historic-folk-art-35-star-flag-table Happy Belated Flag Day!
Has to be! I wonder what Kelly is asking for it. More than what they paid I'd bet, which was 18k hammer.
Oh about $43,000 https://www.incollect.com/listings/furniture/tables/painted-and-inlaid-flag-table-369036
Uh huh, I'll wager that number is negotiable though. There was the buyer's premium and the restoration cost so they probably have 25k in the table as it sits.
Yeah is, It's got a pretty cool price tag on it too. Interesting if he made it in 1863 while the civil war was raging & the outcome still in doubt.
Let me take a stab: Terry is sarcastically commenting on "woke" people calling all patriots, as symbolized by the flag on the table top, racist and homophobes. Komo is implying that Terry must be a Nascar fan to make such a comment, with all of the flag waving, know-nothing redneckisms that implies in the popular imagination. Am I close?
Well, these woke people LOL, are HORRIBLY over-represented in the corrupt corporate media. They tried their "secession" tactic close to me here in Asheville NC, a town not exactly known for conservatism and got blown outa the water. These tactics only work where you have weak leaders and they know the police will stand down. In Asheville, they were as meek as lambs as they watched police dismantle their little "zone", ditto Nashville & a half dozen other cities. Apparently, some cities leadership is too stupid to realize that giving in to the Mob NEVER works and just leads to further demands. Another thing this woke crapola has done ( ALWAYS a silver lining) is, "The Case for Gun Control is Dead" as every gun dealer/store in America is SOLD OUT on many popular firearms.
Isn't it amazing how these mayors are giving in? I keep thinking they must have something on them or are threatening their families. Too many are simply folding up and letting the mob have their way. Doesn't make sense to me. @Ghopper1924 You got it right.
It is a little, it is weird. You notice woke people stay out of gang territory & stay within the city limits, why? Because they know in either case they would be shot as the gangbangers are armed as are citizens outside the city.
And I don't get how all the house reps ended up in tribal scarves. What the heck was that about? Submission?
