Just curious what this piece came off of? A jewelry or trinket box, maybe? Seems to be lacquer, hand painted, with rhinestones, etc. Thinking 1920s/30s or so.

Former owner must have just had this piece. She drilled holes in the small knobs or feet on the back to put a wire through so it could be displayed, I'm leaving it that way. Kind of a fun odd piece. I have it on the wall at the moment, but sometimes I move things around and sell pieces so just curious what this might be. Thanks.

Those feet look like they were made to sit on a flat surface & not to be used as a lid.

It doesn't appear to be big enough to be a trivet, so basically I am going to wait around to see what everyone else has to say.

It is very cute & I would have snagged it also. Someone who collects owls would love it I bet.:happy:

I know... it's an odd one. Bit of a possible discovery, I just went to look to see how to describe the little round extended "tab" (for lack of a better word). If you look to the right of the piece best view in photo one (right around 3 o'clock) ...or on the left in photo two (at 9 o'clock), you will see a little bumped out section. I suppose this could have been damage (as if the plastic got hot and formed a bubble??) But if yes, even on both sides. So either intentional or some kind of damage.

As for the "discovery" when I went to just look at that part, I took a better look at the back, and now wondering if the 3 feet were original. They look sort of glued on, but I guess that could be how it was made. If not original, maybe this was the backing to a mirror or something.

    Keep the ideas coming. Thanks!

It does look like a mirror back. Maybe the rest of it broke and the owner made use of the piece that was left?

It is a fun nice piece. Pretty sure someone could use it with a project that could make.

It was meant to be sewn on fabric, thus the holes in the round elements on the back (which are not feet). I'd guess: belt ornament, hat accessory, purse accessory, etc.
