Featured Sterling pillbox

I think this is an inexpensive little sterling pillbox, but I haven't been able to find the hallmark in the references. Is it a pillbox? Is the hallmark on the far right the London import mark? Why would there be two .925 marks? Can you tell me the maker, country and approximate date it was made? (note: it is purely silver in color - the gold tinge is a reflection of the shirt I was wearing when I took the photo)

The one with the scales is the international hallmarking convention mark, that is always separate from any local mark. The presence of the convention mark means it is post-1972. Some countries joined later.

 

Here is some info on the convention, it says it was signed in 1972, but came into force in 1975.
So the mark is no earlier than 1975, and as I said before, some countries joined later. Countries are still joining, and others are aspiring members, working on establishing a quality control system.

He used to import from Mexico, I don't know if this is Mexican made?

 

It certainly could be, but whether it was... no idea. A Mexican smith could have made that easily.

 

Thanks a lot. Great information. It does have a Mexican look to the design. Now that I know it's Ari Norman, I found some sold in the past and for sale now on EBay that look extremely similar.
