I just bought this fetish at a yard sale for $1.00. I would like your thoughts!

Presumably Zuni, but I cannot identify the maker. There is a mark which I photographed.
I am in the Southwest US, so these things turn up sometimes, but this is the first time I found such a nice one.
I cannot find much info about makers online. Also, I have not seen one before with a little chamois pouch on the side. I bet there's something magical in there.
Also, I would like to know what the material is that straps the gemstones on his back. Catgut? Sinew?

The bear looks like travertine, quartz, something with copper. The black one may be an Apache tear, shine a light into it.

Real sinew is more yellow-brown in color. More likely an artificial poly sinew, chosen to blend in with the white marble.

    I agree, synthetic sinew.
Could be, but most of these little additions are not traditional, but added for an 'exotic' touch.

    Maybe @Bronwen recognizes the mark.:)

IIRC these are just made for the tourist trade, and so can't be "authentic" per se. Lots of people like them though, and they can sell for a decent price.

Ok, I used a pen light. It is purplish, so a garnet. Not Apache tear.
