    Hello everyone:)
    I'm a new member here and just wanted to introduce myself.
    I run an antique store in Roppongi, Tokyo dealing in mostly authentic Japanese antiques. I'm mainly into katanas, sword fittings, katana-related books, porcelains, potteries, byobus and Kinko metal works.
    My hobbies are iai and batto so that's where my interest in katanas grew.
    I also like to collect water stones (or suiseki) for art appreciation and love to eat soba.

    I hope you drop in often and peruse the new things that get posted everyday. It's great to have a person knowledgeable in Japanese art on board!

    I'll start you off with two things that have had me stumped for a very long time.

    Just a two character mark on this vase. I know the upside-down "T" means mountain or san. The other character, have never been able to decipher.

    Welcome to the forum Inishie. As the others said, we could do with good information on Japanese antiques and also script.
    But be prepared, many people think anything pre-2000 is antique. Which of course makes most, if not all, of our members (valuable) antique(s).:)

    Please feel free to show us items from your own collection, a sort of show and tell, if you like.

    Ok:) Please give me sometime to figure out what they are. I can probably give you more concrete answers. The handwriting on the painting is quite hard to read! I'll do my best:)
