Hi all. I usually post on the finds thread but I felt this one deserved closer attention. Its 3 1/2 inches high,4 wide and the mark is so terribly faint from polishing I played hell getting a pic. Wich is probably why it slipped through at the thrift ! Plus it was so black I had to polish it like 3 times.I just cant figure out who,so maybe fresh eyes can help . Any input is always appreciated .

I'm not totally sure but that looks like the head of Diana. It was a silver purity mark in Austria and the Austria-Hungarian empire from 1867. Explains the solid silver factor. That mark usually included a small alphabetical letter which indicated the town where it was made. Perhaps you can see it better than we do

Actually that is a 925 . Even under magnification its almost impossible to see .I have stared at it forever trying to make out the name. I think it might be "hazorf" ?

Yeppers. That's what it is. It's an "Elijah's cup" or kiddush cup, used on Passover. They turn up in silver sometimes.

    Definitely "HAZORFIM".

Which would make it a sterling silver Judaica kiddush cup, with gilt wash interior.

    Very smart :)

For obvious reasons, they're highly collected by Jews. I have a pair of Jewish friends (husband & wife) and they collect silver judaica. They'd jump on that in half a second!

If I found that in a synagogue sale, and weirder things have happened, it would be in my pile so fast.... I rehome orphaned Judaica when possible.
