Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Hi all! I kind of get the feeling this isn't much, but want to be sure!! Picked this 7" tall 'feathered friend' up in NH about 25 years ago and he's been sitting up on a shelf ever since. To me....it looks like "gibberish" written on the scroll, but it does say 'Italy' inside underneath. Porcelain, ceramic? Whichever/whatever....I have been unable to find any images just like it! And yes, the owl does have a purplish tinge to it....ANY and ALL HELP IS MOST GRATEFULLY RECEIVED!!!!! AND I THANK YOU!!!! Whatever the results may be!!!!!

Sorry, I don't know, but I too like him.
Owls were popular in the 1970s. They are popular again now. So if you thinking of selling, I should think you would get a decent price.

He's/It's just 7" tall to the top of the scroll....and looks to be in perfect condition....

Not being able to find anything similar, I haven't a clue what a decent price would be.......anyone offering suggestions????

    Is this a hairline crack?
upload_2017-9-25_18-24-48.png If yes, then I would mark it "as is" at 17.95. If not a crack then 27.95. I have a store in Northern CA. I'm known for having a lot of critter type figures and figurines.

Those amounts are in the ballpark of what I was thinking, too. Be sure to include "signed ITALY" or similar wording in the title if selling on Ebay. Best of luck! :)

I've looked VERY carefully, and can post a closer image if need be....it appears to be just a bit of runny glaze (?) or finish color on the scroll.....actually, here it is.....

Sigh.....well, now there's my problem.....I haven't taken the plunge....and with the headaches I've heard about ebay....will probably NEVER buy or sell anything there!! I thought I'd maybe just post on the SELL forum here, see if anyone wanted it and if so, wrap the daylights out of it!!!!!!!!

With the close up photo, looks like it might be glaze or similar. Take the back edge of a fingernail and run it lightly across the line. If it snags at all, may be a hairline, but with the new photo does look a bit more like glaze.

In fairness, this kind of thing is probably a hard sell on Ebay, not signed by maker, etc. would get lost in the sea of figurines. In a little shop would probably be best -- but in the absence of a little shop, absolutely give it a try here! We do have the "sell" category after all. :)

@clutteredcloset49, I just wanted to be sure and thank you for offering up some potential values, since I am well aware this site is not so much into that!!! I usually try to scope out numbers from places like eBay, but when I can't even find anything similar.......well, MANY thanks!!!! To YOU and all!!!!

It doesn't bother me to tell someone how I would price something. You just have to remember prices are subjective. Location and type of selling venue may dictate different prices. What I might be able to get in my area, may not be what someone on the East Coast might get.

    Just want to add:
Who you are targeting as your buyer makes a difference in pricing. If you are going to put it up here on the board, many here are re-sellers, they want to make a profit. The prices I gave were for retail store shoppers.

I also agree with Lucille that it appears to be glaze and not a hairline crack.

Hmmm, so I presume my next move would be to pack it up extremely well and take to P.O. to estimate shipping costs............?
