I was at an estate sell today and every box was 5 dollars so I bought a few and found a couple items I need some help with if possible.
First is a perfume bottle, i think, that is beautiful. It is stamped sterling silver deposit 29. Wondering what year and should I clean it and the best way to clean it?
I also found this bowl its around six inches in diameter and is stamped sterling with a hallmark and a yb etched in it. I thought real sterling would look different maybe im wrong , does anyone recognize this hallmark.
I would like to thank everyone for all their hard work and help!

I really like the bottle! Sorry I can't help ID the maker.

The bowl was made by Frank Smith Silver Co some time in the mid-1900s.

https://www.925-1000.com/americansilver_S5.html That mark is NOT a hallmark (the US does not have an official government agency to mark precious metals.) It is a maker's mark, though.

Is the YB the scratching beneath the Smith mark? If so, that has no meaning. Likely something a former owner used to identify as theirs in case of theft.

The silver overlay bottle looks wonderful now, Bobby!!!! The plate should also come up the same after polishing!!! Enjoy!!! My little bottle is more 'squat' and somewhat 'fractured' inside where the stopper sits, so I don't take the stopper out very often, & I love it just the same!!!

It certainly does. A sunshine cloth could bring out the silver even more.:)

    Hi Aquitaine,
I have a fractured bottle also. I poured glue into it and swirled it around then dumped it out. It has held together for many years now.

@gregsglass?? A clear glue??? It's only in the short neck area, but that sounds great!!!

    Hi Aquitaine,
My clear glue usually consists of a clear nail polish. I usually use Sally Hansens hard as nails.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
