    I agree.
I search properties as if its a crime scene, anywhere there is a cavity items can be hidden.

you may have pieces that could bring a lot ,so dont let your circumstances deprive you of the harvest.
A)As wise voices said earlier, if possible rent a storage and have it appraised properly taking your time
B)If renting storage is not possible, find some well to do friends or families to keep the pieces for you in thier home spaces(garage etc) until you sort out things.
C)Third option just pack everything that seems queer and interesting and go to one of the major auction houses in NY (like Christie, Sotheybys) for quick walk in pre-screening and if the items turn out to be important it could be more beneficial(given your situation) to leave it with them for full appraisal and auction. That way you solve two problems as they would store it on thier site and you will have an auction decided price for your items.

I've been lucky enough to clap eyes on the Antiques Roadshow blanket. It's displayed at the Detroit Institute of Arts, which is about 30 minutes from where I live. :)

Assuming the super will let us leave furniture without penalty, I think we are going to reject the estate liquidation offer. Rent a 9 foot uhaul van, and pack up any sculpture, paintings, artwork etc and taken them to Albany, where we live. The furniture is nice, but the cost of moving it up to Albany will likely whipe out alot of the value to sell. Def will need to get a storage unit. Unfortunately some things probably went missing when soon after she died. She had 24 live in health care and from what I understand they get handsy very quickly.

Post some photographs of the furniture here. You may have some pieces that are worth taking with you or that you could take to a NY auction house.

That looks like it has had a serious infestation of woodworm.
Give it a good tap and see if any dust appears at the base or behind.

I don't know if the market has changed or not but a few years ago, a friend sold one at auction for a decent price. The A models are smaller. She was told that it is considered the best "small" baby grand and that the size makes them desirable. Price would depend on style, condition and color. I would think NY would be a great place to auction it.

it seems the old house has quite a bit of real collection without the family knowing about it that much, but it appears they are being rushed out and the vultures are already circling the sky,,,,

Yes. And my father is partly to blame. I told him for two years we had to work on the apartment because my grandma was on the downswing...but he couldn't face it. And here we are
