Featured Why would someone do this?

  1. I picked up this gorgeous set for my beautiful movie star Momma. The bracelet, for whatever reason, has had the clasp replaced with a 7 inch long chain...with no clasp. Why would someone do this...what purpose would it serve? Also, if anyone has any information about this set, I would love to be able to pass it along to her.

    Thanks!

I don't know but you can add a clasp to make it work as a bracelet. How long is the bracelet without the chain? Could it have been something other than a bracelet all along?

    It is a beautiful set!!!!!

  4. The actual bracelet is 6 1/4 from point to point. I was assuming it was a bracelet because the chain was an off color...but the funky earring clips are off as well. Hmmmm....

I have to think pieces broke off and someone created sort of a home spun repair. Does look like the bracelet is just missing a clasp. Maybe someone was trying to wear the bracelet as a choker?? Can't speak to the possible earring repair without additional photos. (Photos might show up best on a light or white plain background)

Other than the repairs this looks like an extremely nice set. The enamel on each piece is a nice touch. I would love to see additional photos.

I think the bones on this are a high-end costume set and your mother is going to love it!!

  8. suite 5.jpg Here is a better look on a white background. I thought about a choker but there is no clasp...and it's too small for a head band unless the head was the size of a grapefruit :)

Choker, I'd think. Very rock 'n roll.

I hate to ask for more photos (thanks for the white background :)) but could you take a picture of one of the earrings holding them up as if they were being worn? I'd like to see the front. While you are at it, could we see a photo of the back of the pieces? Thanks!

The clasps look as if they might be replacements, don't they?

  13. This is a close up of the funny clips on the earrings...I've never seen anything like them. They remind me of a knuckle :) suite 15.jpg

Great info on the ear clips!

Wondering if they were used as a replacement... Shelley the first photo in this most recent group of photos (where you are holding the earring in your fingers) does look like a bit of solder there? I'm seeing some silver color. Wondering if these were soldered to those backs??

This is such an interesting set. I wonder if possibly Czech? You've probably done this, but take a really good look at the ring by the closure on the necklace for tiny tiny letters. Anything there?

  17. At first I thought is was just that small piece of enamel...now that I look closer, I'm pretty positive the backs were replaced with the GRA LOK backs. Any idea of the age of the set?

What a pretty set! I'm seeing that odd piece as a hair ornament. The jeweled part would go across the front part of an updo and the chain would be hidden?
    My best guess...
