You can have that on certain sheep breeds.

 

Think Kyra is right. Often called a Shearling lamb or mouton coat.
I’ve got one I think, if I haven’t sold it. I’ll have a look.

 

The fur...is the undercoat ....which is softer thicker and traps air close to the body...you don't get the long guard hairs , like other fur coats have..

 

There are different types. Mines buried in one of the plastic tubs but i remember it looks like yours. Very dense fur.

I’ve just had a look at bear fur coats, fur looks longer to me. Very interesting though to see the antique ones.
Sometimes here in U.K. the mouton coat is called beaver lamb, but it’s nothing to do with beavers.

 

I have a beautiful Muskrat coat that was my aunts. She worked in the Foreign Office in Geneva and it was a present from her father when she left. I have no idea what to do with it as I will never wear it and don’t dare try to sell it.

 

Sheep wool there, still on the skin, just shaved short as in a man’s brush hairdo

You could try a Vintage Fair, lots of the 40s/50s gals wear them with no trouble that I ever saw. They know the furs are old, they wouldn’t ever buy new and they want to be authentic. There are racks of them for sale even in a summer Vintage Fair along with the snakeskin and lizard handbags.
I’ve got an astrakhan collar here somewhere, I knew it was lamb and I thought ok but I’ve only recently found out it’s the skin from fetal or days old lambs so you get the curly pattern. Again it’s very old but I wouldn’t buy it again now.
