I picked up a bag of photos, can someone tell my why this boy is wearing an upside down flower?

 

Hmmmm, I wonder if an upside-down flower has a special meaning in some cultures/countries.

What is the last name of "Mrs. S??????" and what is the address (if that is an address)?

I wonder if the boy was "in mourning" for a family member and perhaps the upside-down flower reflects that "state of mourning."

If the photo is old enough to be during or (shortly) after the Spanish influenza outbreak in 1918, perhaps that is the boy's photo to commemorate his surviving (or never catching) the Spanish flu.

My paternal uncle (at the age of 8) contracted the Spanish flu and almost died. My grandmother (as soon as she possibly could given "epidemic restrictions") had a studio photo taken of her four children, which included my (then) two-year-old father.

 

This doesn't explain it, but gives some evidence that there could have been a variety of reasons.

The last name of Mrs. S___ looks like Swanson to me. But I can't read the rest!
