one of our 3 thrifts just shut down on nov 24, i didn't even know it was there until about 6 months ago, a friend of the wife took me there . It was called the lloydminster brain injury thrift store , "lbits" was their sign , i had no idea what lbits meant so i never went in there .

I just found a new antiques/vintage cool stuff store in the next town over. I think they must have their main business at the flea markets or something. The family owns the building; it used to be a conventional jewelry store. I traded in some stuff I can't/don't sell on a few pieces that may. No loss either way.

You have the same first name as the brain injury charity thrift that closed down.

And I think the "savvy" decorators are picking up on decorating with antiques nicely placed in their work!! They just need to do more of it!!!!

Yesterday was my last day of selling at the shop I've been in for over 35 years.

An auctioneer from Concord, NH took all my remaining stock, which in reality is a blessing. It means no more lugging & packing for me. But it also means no more interacting with customers, or that nice feeling of seeing my merchandise being bought and loved by some else.

I will still go to the shop a couple more times until the owners have cleared out their stock completely (same auctioneer). But without customers coming in, there will be no reason for me to stay the whole day.

I will now only buy smalls if I think I can sell them on ebay, and hope that I have only honest buyers....so far I have.

I don't care how well one's description is, or how wonderful the photos, none of it matters to the dishonest buyer. And we all know eBay is 99% for the buyer.

I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. I've always loved buying and selling.:cat:

    Hi Judy,
I know you will miss the shop. I miss selling on eBay but I am glad now that all the nonsense that is in place I have left. I still friends that I met selling on ebay. The friends that I have made on the discussion boards have also been wonderful. Sometimes I do miss all the excitement of selling and buying but sometimes I am glad that I no longer have too. Being the Au Pair to my nephews was a wonderful time and I am sad that it is over. I have been asked to "watch" some other kids but they are all too interested in their phones and are horrible.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Judy, you likely need a big hug right now! It's the tearing away that makes it so hard. I guess the trick is to find something else that fills at least part of the hole... The memories, however, will always be yours to keep.

It's been a wonderful experience for sure.

Filling my time will not be difficult to do once I can get out in my yard to fuss and fiddle......it's almost Spring.....just about a month to go.

You seem to keep yourself pretty busy and apparently you're quite happy where you are in life today.

Being content is a wonderful thing.:cat:

    Thank you SBSVC.......hugs are wonderful.....

I could go into another shop, but really do not want to.

You are correct....the memories are mine to keep.

It'll all come together in a positive way.:cat:

Judy, maybe Ebay is 99% for the buyer but I have found 99%+ of buyers to be honest.

Trouble is we all remember the dishonest ones :(
