I'm pretty sure the back stamp is for the merchant. He had a store in 1895. it is 8 1/2" wide, 11" at the handles.

"A las tres BBB" appears to have been a retail store located at Refugio, 15 in México, D.F. that was owned by Alberto Caissellier and sold quality crystal and porcelain imported from Europe and the U.S. Here's a period post card showing street.

Nothing yet. But ill post a better pick of it in hopes someone might know.

 

I would guess Limoges, late 19th century. Based on colors, shape of the handles, and even the images on the shield. Again, though, this is just a guess.

Yes, shop operated in the late-Victorian period (which in México is called el Porfiriato.) French-style was fashionable.

The coronet is that of a marquis (according to Spanish heraldry and it was the Spanish Bourbon monarchs who created the Mexican noble titles) so I'd start searching there.

So you think this was something more personalized because of the coat of arms? if so, there were several more pieces of this but i only bought this one because i didn't know what i might have.

Just found a period newspaper which printed a letter from Caissellier. Full name of store was actually "Cristalería de las tres BBB" or Glass Store of the Three Bs. (Think the three b's must be those of the Mexican phrase "bueno, bonito y barato" or good, beautiful and inexpensive.)

The towers in the coat of arms are the towers of Castile, Spain, the power centre of colonization. Those trees appear in the crests of several Mexican states, and no doubt even more towns. There are some with wolves.

The eagle could refer to the name Aguilar. So maybe an aristocratic name like Aguilar de .... y ....

I agree NOT a tureen but a covered sauce or vegetable dish. A tureen would have a notch in the lid for the ladle.
