I'm addicted to spaceflight and astronomy themed weights. I've got the newer Caithness ones, but I'd kill for older ones.

Cool. I paid $25. Thank you for this insight in the value. I was trying to find the artist and I see that Peter McDougall used these tiny canes and twisted pieces. Do you know?

Many of the Perth weights had those twisted canes. Not sure of the pattern number of yours. Shame they've not shown an image of the ladybird's label.

Okay. I was just reading up about the Perth weights in case another crosses my path, I'll know what to look for. I saw the small cans were his specialty. I buy almost every good paperweight I see in a thrift, but they are rare.

You are I are thinking along the same lines - teasing us about a label and not showing it. You refer to the tiny little red guy as a ladybird, and we across the ocean as a ladybug. I'll try a search with ladybird instead. Thanks.

Changing it to ladybird helped. This one confirms OBB's Chinese but not much more

There you go. As I say, those flowers and colours are typical of 30s Chinese. The glass is also more sort of greyish yellow than some modern ones.

I had no doubt that you were right. Thank you for clarifying how you knew. I would never had guessed!

I did find a Lundberg paperweight (since the link is to them) at Goodwill awhile back that fits the space theme though of a different type.
