Featured Today's Watercolor

Does anyone know the place/scene? The frame is marked "Made in Mexico" in Spanish. Not sure if that means the piece was done there. Also, I'm not certain if it's a print or original but thinking the former.

Thanks for any info, including opinions on quality and value (I'm assuming low).

 

Dude, the scene is of the flower market in Nice, France. Writing reads "Nice" and "Marché aux fleurs." Made in México is not a good sign; usually indicates a factory work. I would suspect yours is a print.

Curiosity got the better of me, so I deframed it. Definitely not an original and not even sure if we can call it a print. More like a photo copy. I zoomed in on the original full sig. Perhaps you or someone else will recognize it. It'd be swell to know the artist and year. With further scrutiny, I also that the duplicate name on the framing was not done with the same strokes (see pic) as those on the image. Can't believe I missed that obvious forgery! Another lesson learned. Although most of the pieces I find are inexpensive, I'm going to be a lot more careful in purchasing art.

 

Art is a really tricky category. It's hard to get lucky without a fair amount of knowledge. And those little souvenir paintings are almost always decorative. It's a quick buck market. Someone willing to spend a little something for a little souvenir.
