Featured Signature on maritime paintings

Can anyone decipher the artist’s name, from the signatures on these two paintings? Both watercolours were painted in 1917 by the same artist, who is likely British but could be Canadian:

Love both of them. I do water color and getting "action" like that is difficult. You can almost feel the spray. I would have bought those in a heart beat.

I was sold on these at first sight, and handwritten notes on the back of each painting from a sailor who served aboard these ships in WWI was icing on the cake.
