Featured Old carved round wooden frame. German? Age?

I got this in the same box lot as the mini bean pot I have a thread posted for ID. I think the front part may be hand carved. It is not marked any where.

The image inside I believe may just be an old photo someone cut to fit into the frame although it looks pretty good.

It is 6 3/8" across & the opening is 4" across.

Frame looks Black Forest.

 

If the picture is contemporary with the frame, which may easily be, then maybe the first decade or two of the 1900s.

The image is what caught my eye first even through the layer of dirt on the glass.

That is a real possibility.

That is about what I was thinking for time frame.

It is in excellent condition for its age with only 1 of the little curls broken off.
