Which I will if only worth the £3 paid for it:hilarious:
I picked it up because I liked it and then googled the AR mark when I got home and am lost in the Wolfsohn/Meissen/later Chinese rabbit warren maze.
How do I know what I am looking at?.
It’s quite big at approx 20cm tall (approx size as currently stashed in the car as OH will go nuts if he thinks I’ve bought another piece of junk :bag::hilarious:)
More photos if required in the morning :)
    Thankyou for looking :)

I would use it. If you are afraid using it may not be a good idea, put the plant in a plastic pot and slip that inside :)

Just don't overwater - lack of drainage can cause root rot, and when that sets in they die a slow, irreversible death

I would do as Marie suggested above & put some pebbles in the bottom to make sure the bottom of the pot does not sit in water.

In Kovel's book it looks like Meissen AR mark blue underglaze circa 1725.

    Helena Wolfsohn ?

the monogram was probably used as a reminiscence to Dresden and Augustus the Strong - Augustus Rex - and is found on buildings and coins.
if it was used by "the" Meissen company only or if it was used accompanied by other marks ?

As has many a plant in my dubious care!
Thankyou. I thought it was delightful and a steal for £3!

    Good plan.

Can you show a picture please Mikey?
Thanks for this. The Meissen marks I've seen look to have an extra curl on the bottom whereas Wolfsohn don’t so I’m leaning towards HW but I just don’t know enough to know if it’s a fake of either!. Wolfsohn got into a lot of trouble from Meissen for using that mark!

    It certainly looks like it.
That’s very helpful Mikey Thankyou. I’m going to look out for that book. What’s the full title please?
Having seen that I’m trying to get a handle on if it’s either Helena Wolfsohn who bought plain Meissen pieces and decorated them or if Meissen themselves decorated it.
Or it’s a big fake and is neither.......
