I bought this Chinese 28cm (11”) dish at auction today. Despite a couple of chips I particularly like it because of the white ground unlike most Canton pieces that are completely covered in mostly green enamel.

I think it dates to the mid 19th c.

    Any other opinions ?

    Thanks as always

From the decoration, I agree. Nice looking example. One thing struck me though the back looks more like pottery than porcelain, which of course would be unusual - is the pic just a bit deceiving?

It’s definitely porcelain . Thick but translucent.

Nice, it can be hard to tell from a pic sometimes. Definitely seems right for mid 19th Rose Canton, should do well, much better than the average celadon piece.
