    Hi everybody

I found this bucket, I always thought it was silver. But after joining this forum and reading up so much on it, its obvious that is is not silver. No sterling marks. I was wondering if this is silver plated at least or it is a mix of metals and no silver plate. Cannot figure out the marks on this except its WMF.

I found 1 similar looking on on this link https://www.flickr.com/photos/giltcomplexantiques/9629419821/in/photostream/
But I cannot get to the listing to read up on it.

thanks @Houseful The website was so engrossing. Great information on WMF

It appears this is silverplate. Dont see my self drinking champagne anytime soon. Will be much better repurposed as a planter to hold a nice pot.

I think wMF are quite a desirable make and are usually good sellers as a champagne bucket in the U.K. auction rooms but maybe your market is different where you are.

    Thanks @Fid

The bucket is identical. Only marks seem different.

Yes, they are, a much more generic shape too. The ones on the bucket I posted are the same, and it looks like the same bucket to me. Worth looking into imo.

I don't see it but it doen't matter.
    JMHO.
WMF was massproduced stuff and overpays in some countries today.
except the bigger Jugendstil items that were only made in small numbers nothing stands the test of time.
here you even see the traces of the lathe which was not the case in the good old days. furthermore the mark was one of the most faked.
but all these problems were solved when WMF was running after the fast dollar by producing in China and selling it under made in Germany - especially household goods. I'm not allowed here to tell what a Munich auctioneer called it after that sell-out...Kruzitürken was the most harmless.:)
I would not buy any piece of WMF anymore and kicked out appr. 50 about 15 years ago. some items were going directly to the dump because the ones made in Britannia have a problem with the surface deteriorating to an extent above rescue. (britannia and pewter separating by time)
