As far as the valuations go on your 2003 invoice, I don't think they would bring that price today............they were probably insurance valuations. However, check out Ebay for current prices. Altho I haven't followed prices, I think these would bring a fair price for these.

Your dolls are lovely...............very nice condition from the photos.

I would be cautious of the 8" dolls........especially the Foreign ones as far as valuations go....even with their boxes. Wendy might still bring a good price..........haven't look in a long time. She was MA's "Ginny" competition.

    My book by Pat Smith.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

After the 2008 economic woes, doll prices went way down. So possibly in 2003 they were higher. However, Cissy is still selling well, as are her clothes. I have tried in the past to buy some clothes for Cissy to give to my mother as gifts. On eBay it was almost impossible to find any for a reasonable price!

My walker doll with the Cissy face is wearing a tagged Madame Alexander tutu, with a tiara added by somebody later. The shoes also seem original. I purchased her through eBay in about 2003. People must have been asleep at that time, as I paid only $55 for the doll with clothing!

You're so right about the drop on doll prices Fig.

You were in the right place at the right time when you got yours, as the saying goes, and I might say the same for Bluumz finding hers.

To add to my previous post, I failed to mention that the "foreign" dolls are MA's also, but made to represent different Countries, not made in a foreign country. Most come with their original boxes. They do not bring much today.....Wendy, of course, was her answer to Ginny. I haven't checked prices on any of them lately though.

Just adding the info that my MA ballerina is "Margot", a Maggie-face doll.

From the internet, the Rodney Waller collection. These are dated 1951:

Hello Everyone, I could use some help with this little boy.
He looks like Bisque head and comp. body. i haven't taken the clothes off yet though. He is 11" long approx. Bent at the knees and elbows. Blue eyes and this Germany mark on the back of his neck.
Appears to be in good condition except for missing his fingers on one hand.
    Thanks in advance.

    Armand Marseille (A. M.), Germany.

However, looking at my encyclopedia of dolls by Coleman, there is a notation of a mark very similar to yours as being Koppelsdorfer Porzellanfabrik, the proprietors of which were Armand Marseille and Ernest Heubach. There is a slight different in the mark on yours and the one in the book. I'll take a photo and post.

My Mom has two of these in the spare bedroom "Computer" room .... I have always found them creepy as my five year old son does now . Of course , the fact she has a full size 1960's mannequin from a local ladies' shop she used to work at doesn't help.....lol. They have the "crooked" little finger which is the tell-tale sign they are not of this planet (LOL) like in the 60's TV show "The Invaders" (IN Color, A Quinn Martin Production!) . You can see by my Avatar I am a die-hard fan . The majority of the "Aliens" all had off-set "Crooked" little fingers . I used to tease my Mom, when I was ten I tossed a football and she caught it wrong and broke her little finger ...it was always crooked after that . She is in good company : Even Ellen Corby ( Grandma Walton) was an alien in one episode ....

This is a fun thread .... sadly though , my Mom is 85 with Lewy Body Disease and in a convalescent hospital. Some day my sister and I will have to decide what will happen to " The Invader twins" and my Mom's older doll collection.

So sorry to hear of your mother being in a hospital. That is sad.

What dolls did your mother collect? The ones like Bluumz & Fig have?

A lot of people find dolls creepy............

    @916Bulldogs123..........

    History[edit]
Armand Marseille was born in 1856 in St. Petersburg, Russia, the son of an architect, and emigrated to Germany with his family in the 1860s. In 1884 he bought the toy factory of Mathias Lambert in Sonneberg. He started producing porcelain dolls' heads in 1885, when he acquired the Liebermann & Wegescher porcelain factory in Köppelsdorf. In 1919 the firm merged with Ernst Heubach but they separated in 1932. The combined firm was known as the "Vereinigte Köppelsdorf Porzellanfabrik vorm. Armand Marseille und Ernst Heubach".[2][3] Maximum production was 1000 dolls heads a day. Production continued to around 1930.[4]

The head of the doll has a strange appearance to me. I wonder if it has been repainted. He is a beautiful doll however.

There is no cross reference to A.M. in the info of Ernst Heubach, in my encyclopedia book.

    What a bargain!!!!!

I have never seen a torso made like that. Dovetailed and secured with staples?

The color of the limbs is unusual and spotty. The color of the upper right arm (facing) has a spot that looks to be more "normal".
