I'm wondering when sealing things in plastic started. Thought it was around the late 60's.

I'd be happy with 60s But I think its older for some reason.

We're ashamed to admit we don't know when plastic sealing / shrinkwrapping actually started, but even now as guys who as kids amassed a huge amount of boardgames and toys, we don't recall seeing much if any of it until the mid-1960s.
However, as game collectors today, we often see games produced as far back as the 1920s and '30s shrinkwrapped for sale or auction, so there's obviously some way to "do it at home" and the presence of shrinkwrap can't be used to put a date to game or toy (or anything else).
The graphics on the model airplane at hand suggest a WWII fighter plane and pilot, so we'd guess a 1930s-'40s origin.

I think this is Chinese, the bottom line is ?馬厰出品 - something to do with a factory and a horse (looks like a horse logo) perhaps the first character is something like pegasus or some other mythical thing which fits with horse. I can't make out the central band, it's too stylised for me to pick apart, I'm only at the very basic level for kanji

The tailplane configuration on those graphics are early jet age, you don't see that in WW2, I reckon the orange one is a representation of a Mig 15 (or Shenyang J-5 the Chinese copy). Agree the pilot looks earlier. I would expect it to be 50's or possibly 60's.

Edit: Also forgot to mention - no propellers anywhere!
