Thinking 1940's plus or minus, base is stamped "Germany" socket is USA. Approx 12" to top of socket. Older plug as shown in thumbnail. (Not sure why that pic didn't go Full Image.)

It sort of looks like it could use a cleaning, but I think that is just the way the paint is...or? Not smoke, and nothing wipes off easily. Thoughts on that?

Once I got it home I realized that the metal piece that connects to the top is a bit uneven. There is some kind of washer in there. I am loathe to try to tamper with it. The lamp doesn't stand uneven, yet you can see in the photo what I'm talking about. Certainly want any potential buyer to be happy.

Not too many questions here unless I missed something. Assuming this can't be attributed to anyone ...or? Clean it or leave as is? Thoughts on the metal attachment?

    Thanks.

Love this lamp Lucille:), reminds me of the Czech bird root vases of the 1920s-40s.

Probably pre-WWII or would specify W. or E. Germany.

I love it! Maybe @springfld.arsenal can give you some advice on to fix or not to fix. Maybe something you can do, just to protect the ceramic from getting damaged. :)

Can the threaded tube be screwed down, so that most of it is hidden? I expect it can come off the top altogether to make it easier to run wire through it & then screw down out of sight as conduit for the cord. It may be required to add/remove washer(s) to get that one bit to sit on the level.
