20201106_204208-min.jpg I am looking for information on this nativity set that was gifted to me when my family parish was closed. There appears to be a stamp on the pieces that looks like an AR. It's very hard to read. Any assistance that anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The set belonged to a priest and his family from Mahoney City, Pennsylvania. That priest along with his three sisters came to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Coatesville, Pennaylvania in the early 1980s and brought the set with them.
The set is ceramic with most of the pieces being hollow. The largest piece is 18 inches high and the smallest is 5 1/2 inches. I was once told that it was early 1900s but I am not sure what they knew about antiques.

    it is quite stunning.....
r we to understand that the figures are in place and do not move...to get a close up of the base of an individual ??

( @Bookahtoo .....should this thread be placed in the Pottery Forum ? )

What are you going to do with it? It looks like it's meant to be on public display somewhere.

It's fantastic! I suppose this nativity was displayed at Christmas in your old church? Reminds me of when I was a child, every Catholic church had one like this.

What is the ethnicity of the Monsignor named on that label? Perhaps it could be traced to his family's country.

The name on the label is actually the sister of the priest that came to my church. He traveled with all three of his sisters who did the cleaning of the church and housework in the rectory. They were all Polish coming to my Polish parish. No luck tracing it back to them.

Well, there is a long history of the making of Polish pottery. Just ask QVC, they sell a ton of it. I was thinking maybe the pieces were made in Poland.

Can you use a magnifying glass and see if the impression mark on the blue one is xri or anti something like?

The markings really look like AR. Some of the pieces have a number stamped into them. Anyone else have any ideas? Interestingly right before the property was turned over to the new owners I was allowed to go in and take anything that I wanted. Moat everything was taken by the archdiocese but I did find some plaques with ancestors names on it and an extra flute player statue laying on the ground in a closet. Not sure why we had two of the exact same statue.
