I am being naughty. I should be getting ready for my two month camping trip that starts tomorrow, but I had to ask about this crystal perfume bottle that I found today. It is 9 inches tall. On the silver ? collar, it says "25 B.E.P.W.F. 800" Mark "7014". I gave a quick look and got confusing information. Please can someone help me figure out where and when this was created.

Just a thought......It looks big for a perfume bottle. I'm thinking it's a cruet from a condiment set.

Could be. I have no idea. If so it wil have to move away from the perfume bottles :)

The silver collar may be German. Not sure of that, but have no better idea right now.

Definitely German, although I have not found the meaning of the string of initials. The C following them is the crescent moon and the next symbol is the crown.

I would not have found that. But it has the right marks for 800 solid silver. Electroplate may be in their name, but I don't think it applies to the silver in this case.

Crescent moon and crown. I didn't see that at all, but I don't have your knowledge and experience at looking at these marks. Maybe points to a maker?

So I don't feel to bad then finding this, as I don't have your experience or expertise. It cleans like real silver, but I have very little silver to compare.

Great find! It looks like it has to be between 1900-1940 or 50. There are a lot of numbers, could the 800 be the silver quality? Not that this makes a lot of difference. I admire the shape and design. I showed an area where I think it was cut/engraved.

If I remember correctly.....800 is the silver purity which I believe is called coin silver. 925 is sterling 800 is coin silver.

800 silver is real silver with a relatively high purity. The number 800 refers to its level of purity, and it means that your silver item is 80% silver and 20% alloy. This number system is an easy way to tell an item's purity. Another example is 900 silver which is equal to 90% silver.

Great info. I have also read "Silver items made in Italy or Germany are marked "800" which means they are 800 parts silver and 200 parts alloy."

I thought you already knew about the decimal 800 fineness for silver, Kiko or I would have added to my post about the crescent moon and crown.
