    Is that a G I see at about 5:00, notice it’s has solder to the right and left of the “G”?

    I notice that the pin is made from square wire. Is that significant or rare? I normally don't notice, or if I do they are always round.

    Probably used whatever was the best deal at the time.

    It's unusual but does not add anything to the value. Agree with evelyb. Sometimes the marks are put on the pin stem. Of course they are partial & a pain to make out.

    I see what you see as a G, but think it is random marks. I was going to show you what I thought was a G on Egyptian silver by posting this photo. Then I looked hard at the pic & now think it's a B:

    This is a ring I have. It is made of 600 silver, tougher than 800. The cat says it's from Egypt & no later than 1946. (Then they switched to a lotus.) The B indicates it was made 1926-27. A G would mean 1931-32.

    Not all Egyptian silver will have all 3 marks, but there's always a fineness mark somewhere.
