Trying to determine whether or not this is special or old. Assuming oak, cane (?) Back is on good condition. No markings, small sticker on bottom "made in..." but it runs under the metal on underside of seat.....so cannot see it. Any insight or clues!??? 20211003_171654_copy_756x756.jpg 20211003_171651_copy_756x756.jpg

Nice old chair and in good condition. General period is 1900-1950(but the ‘furniture’ members can probably be more specific) Basically a rolling oak swivel desk chair with rattan back..Have also hear the term bankers chair used and have seen listings described as ‘ Windsor rattan wicker back swivel...’

Attractive enough but would say that it's later 20th century. Oak is right.

Years ago, I was working in an office when the company's "home office" declared that all of our 4-wheel rolling office chairs must immediately be replaced by "safer" 5-wheel chairs.

Here's a bit of info about changes to the bases of office chairs (which sometimes can help date these chairs):

The National Institutes of Health recommend a five–point chair base for maximum stability and minimal chance of the chair tipping.

In fact, Tom Reardon, executive director of the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer's Association, says furniture manufacturers stopped making chairs with four–point bases in the 1980s because they weren't considered as safe as five–point chair bases.
