Just to be weird, I might leave the back as is, but pinstripe the back slats with more of the gold.

I’m leaning towards leaving well enough alone, and not push my luck.

That sounds like an excellent idea. I too thought that the stencil was a lot larger. Were you planning to do it by hand and enlarge it? That would be something I could never do. You did a great job painting the chair.

I had just guessed what a good size might be. I’m probably best to leave it be, I’m happy enough with how it turned out.

Yes! I like it fine as shown but do think the stencil would truly tie everything together. If you decide to stencil, make it 5 (or 7!) spokes wide. Really impressive work and such a good looking chair.

I had to think about the stencil, but decide on another vote for no stencil.
I think you already did a perfect job of bringing out that lovely wood and creating a nice contrast.

Do you mind another inquiry? What drew you to this particular chair and your decision to do it just this way? Ok, 2 questions.

I liked the bent arms. I went on the Internet looking for ideas. I liked these, and tried to copy them. 083774F3-8E83-48E4-B14B-E83CCFD50304.jpeg 8CF08F42-D42A-4407-A3D4-9074B5542493.jpeg

Those make the chair, especially now, with your excellent work.
In your chair the colour contrast is much more striking. It doesn't need a stencil, imo.:)

Since you asked...to my eye the two-tones look disjointed. I would go all black with this stencil in gold... but hey, you know me.

Ok, I’m taking the votes to leave these colors, before @James Conrad realizes you can vote more than once. :hilarious:

Or maybe try it on a clear piece of plastic and tape it to the chair so see what you think?

I think you took a rather unremarkable chair and made it look fresh, simple yet interesting. I don't know what look suits you but I think it's lovely the way it is but you've done so well with your choices you'll make it "yours" I'm sure.

They got a little messed up on plastic, especially the fleur de lis. 273A3E70-BCCC-452C-9B65-C6B320E543EF.jpeg C0D5AFB6-EA6A-4D96-A76D-3058D9F83207.jpeg C4562003-FEF4-4B65-B12B-0DC2B5F9BBB4.jpeg DF0CB3AC-7958-41EC-81E4-318DF4E55CB6.jpeg
