Chinese jewelry with a certificate of authenticity from noble trading. Any ideas? 4F2BE82E-7574-47E2-835E-22AE9FB052DE.jpeg 39877B08-F51D-48F5-A959-DF70BF85F18E.jpeg BFFAE3CE-EC76-4588-8486-8A2153636053.jpeg

Hm. How did they get it out of the country legally?

I wouldn't trust it for a minute. Making fake antiquities is a big industry in China.

I don't trust Chinese certificates. And if this trading company is part of the notorious Noble Group, I don't trust them either.
I certainly don't trust that very fake looking verdigris.

I'd throw a few bucks at it, but only because it's an interesting-looking dragon and it's genuinely Chinese. Anything more than a few ... fuggedaboutit.

The mark on the clasp says 'sterling'. The chain doesn't look Chinese made, with that mark.
I like the links. The chain could be worth more than the brass/copper and verdigris lion mask.;)
Could we see a photo of the back of the mask?

I think the dragon was originally something else and made into a necklace. Clothing ornament maybe. It has six holes so it was at least made to look like it was sewn onto something originally.

Hi, this is indeed a Qing Dynasty silver (not sterling) enameled lion head. It's from about 1900 or so. It would have oringinally been sewn on a hat or clothing, probably for a child (that's what those six little holes are for); the chain was added later.

It's definitely genuine. You can see the wear on the enamel indicating age, and the silversmithing technique is right for this era. Tons of old silverwork like this was seized by the Chinese government during the Cultural Revolution and sold overseas in the mid-20th century. It's a nice one!

Actually, I would like to take a look at the certificate if there's any signiture, stamp, seal or date on it.
The pendant is chinese or east asia.

There's a period of time (between 1950 -1980, especially in 1960s and early 1970s), china is lack of foreign currency, they sell lower grade genuine antiques for foreign currency to gain supplies(such as petroleum, crops etc.) for the country.
