    hello,

I found this necklace from a locale estate sale.

i just wonder if it is Faturan amber? How can I tell if it is real antique one vs reproduction? Also I found there could be significant difference on density. Should the amber be lower density and bakelite higher density. In the market it seems the higher weight/density is preferred.

Get a UV light on it to start with.

Nice necklace but it doesn't say faturan to me. Bakelite is more likely, given the style of the necklace.

Faturan was used in the Middle East and Turkey, so geared towards the local market. In jewellery and prayer beads that usually means same size beads, not graduated like your necklace.
