Featured Italian Shoes Something Bottino

Hi,

Can't make out the words on the label other than Made in Italy and Bottino. Thanks for any help in identifying.

 

Looks like it says. Made in Italy by Meucci for Bottino. (Sesto Meucci...Italian shoe maker)

 

I knew of Meucci cues for pool/billiards, but not that designer. Thanks!

 

At a glance on eBay, it looks like the "Bottino" dress shoes fetch much more than the "Meucci" ones.

 

@dude I think it could be Mauri which is a luxury Italian house known for their exotics and much higher end than Meucci. Please doublecheck as if they’re Mauri they are genuine alligator.

 

Here’s Mauri’s logo and their M has that bottom looping tail-Meucci’s doesn’t and the way they do their R looks like a dot but isn’t the same height as the dot on their i. Beside, they look like Mauri and my ex wore them. [ATTACH=full

 

I think you are correct, Reader. Thanks! The way the M starts almost looks like a C.

Now the question is are my shoes (there is a pair) knockoffs. I pause as mine are shiny, the scales larger than most I've seen, and there's no smell of hide tanning. Also, maybe I missed it, but I didn't see any "genuine alligator" stamp or tag anywhere. Maybe our experts would know real vs fake from some closeup shots of stitching.

By the way, I've had genuine snakes and lizard skin shoes and boots, but the only things made of genuine alligator were an attaché case and some watch bands. All of those items had pretty noticeable color variations and natural imperfections.

 

IMO a vintage private label (made for…) has never been faked. As far as a stamp vs exotic goes you’ll need to post really detailed close up settings or take them to a good shoemaker who should be able to tell. I could probably tell in hand but not sure off photos but i do think they’re Mauri and special. I only am familiar with Mauri for genuine exotics.

 

Just got home and looked on a big screen. I was on a phone when I posted. Your shoes are Mauri and genuine alligator IMO. BTW I checked their website and they only work in exotics which was always my understanding. My ex always wore their alligator loafers. They make gorgeous shoes.

Last ones--first one looks like a crude stitching/repair.

 

Go over them with an exotics only clear polish from your shoemaker as they look dry. If there are any splits in the skins it’s a problem.
