Hi. Does anyone have any idea what this might be?

It's cast iron, is almost 11" long, has a 3/4" wide hole drilled down its length making it hollow from the nose to 8.5" down, where it meets a small 1/4" hole drilled in from the side.

And from the looks of it, someone sledged the heck out of it at some point, but it doesn't seem like the 'rim' shows any signs of impact.

    Huh?

    Thank you!

This is just a WAG, but possibly something for marine/boating-marlin spike.

Again, just a guess. See what others come up with.

    Where did you find?

    Thanks!

I found it at an inland US Pacific NW estate sale-- ranching country. Other stuff there was definitely horses, tack, cars, trucks, etc. No military stuff, though.

That sounds way more fun than a rock chisel.

So that article is amazing. A splitting gun. Who knew?

    Well, I guess @Firemandk did.

I'm enjoying the thought of trial and error that led to this device...

    Thank you!

I believe they they butted another log up against it after it was placed in the log to be split . The give away was the fuse hole ..... I had not seen that particular brand but it looked an awful lot like the others I have seen . Fun thing to have in your tree logging antique collection ....even more exciting if you get to use it ! (FIRE IN THE HOLE !!!!!)
