    I have absolutely thought of doing that. I like the idea, and it would certainly provide an appreciation for the time and patience some of these pieces take to bring them back from a 'tarnished death'..

    What a pretty piece, congrats! Assuming the price wasn’t crazy I’d have bought it silver or not and been happy either way. Obviously way happier if silver though!

    Edit: speaking of happy with silver or not… I recently bought a sterling lot described as X grams of silver and X amount of pieces. Based on weight and number of pieces it was obvious that either some of them weren’t solid silver or there was a mistake in calculating weight. The written description was lacking info. Upon checking the lot on pickup it turned out they were right on the weight, many pieces weren’t solid silver. Instead they were Christofle pieces! Most just about worth their weight in silver anyway.

    If you have to get stuck with silverplate, Christople isn't the worst thing to get landed with.

    Exactly! Honestly it’s better than silver in some cases.
