Featured Monkey and deer vase from St. Lou WOrld Fair 1904. Any more info?

    Agree, a brush pot. Nicely detailed.
    If it is stone, it is some kind of serpentine.

    I would go with match holder before brush pot. No dimensions given, but looks on the small side.

    My guess too. The design is what I'm used to seeing in soapstone from China. This looks like bone instead.

    I would go with match holder also simply because i don't see brush pots being sought after souvenirs while toothpick holders and match holders would have been popular in early 1900's.
